Moni Kumar Subba passes away, Congress loses a veteran in Assam

Veteran Congress leader Moni Kumar Subba passed away due to a heart ailment. He has been an MLA from Naoboisa Assembly seat in Assam.

Guwahati: Veteran Congress leader and three times MP from Assam's Tezpur Lok Sabha constituency, Moni Kumar Subba passed away in the wee hours of Monday in Gurgaon's Artery Hospital.

Kumar had been suffering from a heart ailment which persisted after he suffered a heart attack in 2014 while campaigning for the general elections.

Born on March 16th, 1958 in West Bengal's Darjeeling, the 61-year-old was a member of the 12th Lok Sabha, 13th Lok Sabha and 14th Lok Sabha from 1998 to 2009.

The Indian National Congress (INC) politico has been an MLA from Naoboisa Assembly seat and also worked as the chairman of Assam Gorkha Sammelan from 1992 to 2016.

Apart from all, he has also served as President of All Assam OBC Association.

The veteran leader will be cremated today in accordance with the Hindu rituals and customs.

The former MP is survived by his wife, son and three daughters.
